The embassy endeavours to offer high-quality primary service, aimed in particular at promoting Dutch trade and industry. Its core tasks are sharing knowledge, networking, trendwatching and matchmaking. The economic affairs & trade department of the embassy organizes network events, seminars and programs for fact finding trips. Offering high-quality consular service is partly complementary to the economic endeavours. About 300 Dutch companies are established in Singapore, while about four thousand Dutchmen live in this country. A considerable amount of the visa this embassy issues is meant for businessmen wishing to visit The Netherlands.
The Administrative and Consular Section deals with all matters related to passports, visa and judicial affairs and also all administrative matters concerning the Embassy:
- Visas;
- Adoption;
- Legislation;
- Driving license;
- Residence and Work permits;
- Family and legal matters;
- Elections;
- Legalization of documents;
- Registration of Dutch citizens abroad;
- Passports;
- Notarial acts;
Processing times for all travel documents (passports and identity cards) currently amount to approximately three weeks. As travel documents are produced in the Netherlands, this time is required to process the application and for the new document to be sent to the Embassy. There is no guarantee or clear date when the new document will arrive at the Embassy.
If Dutch passport is lost abroad, the nearest Dutch embassy or consulate can help obtain a new passport or temporary travel document (emergency passport or laissez passer). It is recommended to report the loss of a passport to the local police, as it makes the claim to the insurance company easier.
