The Embassy plays an important role in promoting political and economic/trade relations between New Zealand and the Russian Federation, and other counties of accreditation: Kazakhstan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Armenia, Moldova and Tajikistan. 

The Embassy provides these consular services:

  • Helps New Zealanders in an emergency;
  • Provides emergency travel documents;
  • Provides legal and notarial services.
  • Witnesses affidavits, affirmations, statutory declarations and certify official documents for use under New Zealand law.
  • Makes certified copies of original documents which can be sent by post or delivered in person.
  • Assists in adoption matters.

Loss or theft of New Zealand passport must be reported to local police. A copy of a police report or a reference number will be needed when applying for a new passport (depending on which country applicant is in, police reference numbers may be called different things - police report event numbers, crime reference numbers, etc.).

Russian Federation citizens require a visitor visa to visit New Zealand. When they apply for a visitor visa, they need to prove that:

  • They are in good health;
  • They are of good character;
  • A visitor visa fits their purpose for coming to New Zealand, and
  • They are bona fide temporary visitors.

They will also need to provide their passport with their application, two recent passport size photographs, application fees. They will need to show New Zealand diplomatic mission that they intend to leave within the period of their visa. They will also need to show proof that they have enough money to support themselves during their stay.

The maximum stay under a visitor visa is usually nine months in an 18-month period.
