The High Commission provides these consular services:
- Assists in cases of emergency;
- Issues emergency travel documents;
- Provides legal and notarial services.
Only the Department of Internal Affairs passport offices in London, Sydney or New Zealand can issue a passport. A new online passport renewal service is now available.
New Zealand Birth, Marriage or Death Certificates can be obtained directly from the Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages.
Before certain New Zealand documents can be used overseas, Document Authentication or apostille certification may be necessary. It is usually required where overseas officials are not able to determine on sight the authenticity of New Zealand documents.
New Zealand Police are often asked for a "Police clearance certificate", especially by people applying for a job overseas. New Zealand Police do not produce "Clearance Certificates" as such, but New Zealand citizens can get a copy of their criminal record from the Ministry of Justice.

Singaporean and Malaysian passport holders travelling to New Zealand for less than three months on business, as tourists, to visit friends or relatives or for short-term study under three months, are not required to apply for a visa before they travel.
Singaporean and Malaysian passport holders wishing to stay in New Zealand for more than three months, or to live, work, marry or undertake courses of study longer than three months will need to apply for a visa. The New Zealand Visa Application Centre in Singapore facilitates temporary class visa applications, permanent resident visa, second or subsequent resident visa, and visa transfer applications made by current or former resident visa holders.
The High Commission is closed on Singapore and New Zealand holidays.
