New Zealand embassy is accredited to Cambodia, Laos and Thailand.

Consular staff at the Embassy can:

  • Helps with lost or stolen passports;
  • Helps to get in contact with family or friends to request emergency funds;
  • Provides a list of English-speaking lawyers, and contacts family and friends on your behalf, if you are detained or arrested;
  • Provides advice on local medical facilities, helps contact the family or insurance provider if you are ill or injured;
  • Helps with arrangements following a death overseas;
  • In certain circumstances, provides notarial services such as witnessing affidavits, statutory declarations and other documents for use under New Zealand law;
  • Accounts for New Zealanders who may have been affected by a major overseas crises, such as civil unrest and natural disasters;
  • Provides passport services.

Loss or theft of New Zealand passport must be reported to local police. A copy of a police report or a reference number will be needed when applying for a new passport (depending on which country applicant is in, police reference numbers may be called different things - police report event numbers, crime reference numbers, etc.).

Citizens of Thailand require a visa to visit New Zealand. Criteria applicants must meet in order to obtain a visitor visa:

  • Must show that they are genuine tourists or visitors and intend to leave New Zealand at the end of their stay.
  • Must have enough money to live on while they are in New Zealand or have an acceptance sponsor.
  • Must have a ticket to leave New Zealand or be sponsored for the cost of their onward travel.

The Embassy does not observe all New Zealand or locals holidays but will be closed on some of them.
