In line with the third pillar of Philippine Foreign Policy highlighting the Department’s mandate and commitment to protect and promote the interests and welfare of Filipinos abroad, the Embassy has set out the following strategies to deliver prompt, proactive and protective services to more than 36,000 Filipinos throughout the North and South Islands in New Zealand.

The Philippine Embassy in Wellington offers a wide selection of standard consular services including:

It is a function of Philippine consular officers to pass upon claims for, or resolve matters involving, Philippine citizenship and, upon determination of such citizenship, to issue the applicant with the Philippine passport. A Philippine citizen, for one reason or another, is unable to have a passport to return to the Philippines, may be issued a Travel Document valid for one direct flight to the Philippines. Applicants for passports and travel documents use the same application form.

New Zealand nationals may enter the Philippines without a visa for a stay not exceeding thirty days under Executive Order 408, provided these foreign nationals are holders of a passport valid at least six months beyond the period of stay in the Philippines and return or outward bound tickets to country of origin or next country of destination.

Visas are issued to aliens falling under the following categories:

  • Non-immigrants
  • Other Non-Immigrant Visas Allowed Under Special Laws
  • Immigrants
  • Balikbayan Visa

Re-entry permits are issued to aliens previously lawfully admitted to the Philippines for permanent residence who wish to depart for temporary visit abroad. A returning resident when in possession of a valid re-entry permit does not need a visa to re-enter the Philippines.

All legal documents may be notarized or authenticated, by clients/applicants personally appearing at the Philippine Embassy in Wellington or at its Honorary Consulates in Auckland and Christchurch, New Zealand or Suva, Fiji. Authentication regular fee charged by the Embassy is NZ$35.00 (3-5 working days processing), payable in cash or bank cheque or money order payable to the Embassy of the Philippines.
