Objectives of the Embassy are to contribute to the enhancement of national security and the protection of the territorial integrity and national sovereignty; to participate in the national endeavor to sustain development and to enhance the Philippines' competitive edge in a global milieu; to protect the rights and promote the welfare of Filipinos overseas and to mobilize them as partners in national development; to project a positive image of the Philippines; to increase international understanding of Philippine culture for mutually-beneficial relations with other countries; to increase and maximize human, financial, technological and other resources to optimize the performance of the Department.

Consular services provided by the Embassy are related to the following:

  • Passports;
  • Visas;
  • Notarials and authentications;
  • Civil registry;
  • Dual citizenship;
  • Marriage solemnization;
  • NBI clearance;
  • Assistance to nationals.

A Filipino citizen who does not have a valid passport, for one reason or another, and wishes to return to the Philippines may apply for a travel document. This document is valid for ONLY one direct flight to the Philippines. 

Nationals of Portugal are allowed to enter the Philippines without visas for a stay not exceeding twenty-one days, provided they hold valid tickets for their return journey to port of origin or next port of destination. Department regulations require that passports are valid for a period of not less than six months beyond the contemplated period of stay. However, Immigration Officers at ports of entry may exercise their discretion to admit holders of passports valid for at least sixty days beyond the intended period of stay.

When a foreign traveler or tourist plans to stay for more than the 21- or 59-day period, he/she may apply for an extension of the visa at the office of the Bureau of Immigration in Intramuros, Manila.

Payments should be made in CASH and in Euro only. 

The Embassy is closed on Philippine and Portuguese holidays.
