Polish Embassy ensures all co-nationals protection against the violation of their fundamental rights and the limitation or privation of their personal freedom. They also ensure emergency assistance; help in locating family members, inheritance procedures initiated abroad and for the repatriation of mortal remains. The consular services include:

  • Issuance of passports, temporary passports;
  • Issuance of temporary travel documents;
  • Issuance of visas;
  • Legalization, authentication, translation of documents and other notary services;
  • Certification of civil status certifications;
  • Help in contacting relatives/friends in case of emergencies;
  • Financial assistance in returning to Poland when there is no other way of Polish citizen obtaining money;
  • Defense of Polish citizen's employment right by contacting local trade unions, labor inspection and other local authorities dealing with the defense of workers' rights;
  • Assistance in case of arrest.

If foreign nationals intend to stay in the territory of Poland and/or any other Schengen states (during one or more visits) for a total of up to 90 days within a half-year period calculated from the date of first entry, or plan to pass through Schengen territory (by train, car or plane), they need to apply for a Schengen C-type visa. Citizens of Lithuania (and any other EU member state) are not required to be in possession of a visa when entering Poland for less than 90 days.

Theft or loss of a valid passport must be reported to the police and a police report should be presented when applying for a new passport. Otherwise a passport is applied as normally. When reporting a lost passport to the police it should be noted that a report made by telephone and a registration number givenĀ  on the basis of that might not be adequate proof to the insurance company. The report can be made in person at a police station so that a report of the crime is available in writing.
