The Consular Section of the Polish Embassy in Wellington offers standard consular services that include:

Registration of an action concerning legal status (birth, marriage, death) which has taken place outside the borders of the Republic of Poland by signing into Polish registry and issuance of Polish documents confirming its existence is called transcription or registration of foreign vital records. There is no legal duty to register a foreign vital records in the Polish Registry, however Polish certificates are often required in the citizenship confirmation process and PESEL number applications.
Please note that Australian and New Zealand passport holders do not need a visa to enter Schengen area for non-work related stays of up to 90 days in any 6-month period counting from the date of the first entry. Schengen visas for period longer than 90 days are not available. The possibility to enter Schengen states visa-free does not grant the right to work there.
The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Wellington informs that any passport matters for citizens of Poland residing in New Zealand are processed in our office in Wellington. According to the Polish law, every Polish citizen has a right to be given a Polish passport. Passports cannot be extended and in the place of a passport document which expired, a new document is issued.
An application for a passport and the passport is received in person. Person submitting or receiving a passport must have their ID with them. On behalf of a minor, parents complete the passport application together. The presence of minor is required when applying for his/her passport. For the collection of the passport for a minor one parent must be present. Children who are 13 years old or older collect their passport in person, with the presence of one parent. In appropriate cases, at the request of the person applying for a passport, a consul may waive the personal collection of the passport. In this case person concerned need to attach written request at the time of application for a passport.
Issuance of a temporary passport applies to:
- Minors 5 years old or younger
- Polish citizens residing abroad, who do not have a passport
- People awaiting a new passport, which is being issued in Poland
- Temporary passports are issued for a period not longer than 12 months.
