The Embassy staff is divided into the Political, Economic, Cultural, Science and Technology, Press, Trade and Investment and Administrative Departments. The Embassy organizes a wide variety of cultural events, panel discussions, conferences and hosts numerous official delegations visiting Washington from Poland.

Currently the offices of the Economic and Financial Counselors and those of the Defense Attaché and Consular Division are at separate locations in Washington, DC. Other Polish representatives in the United States, supervised by the Embassy, include Consulates General in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and several Honorary Consuls. There is also a Polish Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York.

The Consular Section of the Embassy of Poland in Washington DC serves residents of: Alabama, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, Puerto Rico, American Virgin Islands and other US oversees territories.

Due to European Union regulations, starting April 5th, 2010 the Consular Section of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland will not be accepting visa applications from holders of passports which have been issued more than 10 years from the date of visa application. The Consular Section of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Washington will only be accepting visa applications, generated and printed via the online visa registration application.

Aliens may cross the border of the Republic of Poland if they hold a valid passport (other travel document recognized by Polish authorities) and an appropriate visa. The passport validity must exceed the required date of departure from Poland by at least 3 months. The passport shall contain at least two blank pages and must be issued within the previous 10 years.

US Citizens can travel to Poland for tourism and business for up to 90 days without visa.

NOTE: Visa processing can take up to 15 days. In the individual cases visa processing can be extend up to 30 days. Please note that there are additional Entry requirements that apply to all travelers regardless whether they travel to Poland with or without a visa. Please apply for visa with the appropriate Polish consulate in accordance with territorial jurisdiction.

Theft or loss of a valid passport must be reported to the police and a police report should be presented when applying for a new passport. Otherwise a passport is applied as normally. When reporting a lost passport to the police it should be noted that a report made by telephone and a registration number given  on the basis of that might not be adequate proof to the insurance company. The report can be made in person at a police station so that a report of the crime is available in writing.
