Consular services provided by the Consular Section of the Embassy:

• Consular registration of Portuguese citizens abroad;

• Nationality matters;
• Birth registration;
• Military service matters;
• Issuance of residence certificates;
• Voting in national electoral events;
• Assistance to Portuguese citizens in cases of emergency while abroad.

In case Portuguese passport is lost or stolen, it should be immediately reported to the passport issuing authority in order to cancel the passport. Portuguese diplomatic mission can issue a temporary passport or single travel permit to return to Portugal.

The Consular Section of the Embassy of Portugal in Madrid informs that all requests for issuance/renewal of Citizen Card and Passport must be made by appointment, preferably to the e-mail:mail@madrid.dgaccp.pt.

Spanish nationals do not need a visa to enter Portugal.

The Embassy is closed on public holidays.
