The Embassy of Romania to the Kingdom of The Netherlands ensures all the representation functions of Romania in the host country. The representation role of the Embassy means to promote and protect the interests of the Romanian state and the Romanian citizens, in accordance with the international law, Romanian and Dutch legislation. While exerting its functions of representation, the Embassy also coordinates the activity of the honorary consulates of Romania in the Netherlands.

The Embassy provides these consular services:

  • Issues visas;
  • Issues travel documents;
  • Issues passports, ID cards;
  • Provides documents from Romania;
  • Issues birth, marriage, death, divorce, name change, criminal record certificates;
  • Provides notarial services;
  • Legalizes copies of documents;
  • Deals with Romanian citizenship matters.

As of 1 February 2014, holders of Schengen visas or of residence permits issued by Schengen countries do NOT need a Romanian visa to travel to Romania. Foreign citizens who may need a Romanian visa can now use the an online portal for their visa application.

Citizens of Netherlands do not require a visa to enter Romania.

Long-stay visas for third-country nationals who are family members of Romanian nationals are issued by the Romanian diplomatic missions and consular posts free of charge. Entry-visas for third-country nationals, family members of EU and EEA citizens are issued free of charge.

The visa processing fees are charged beforehand, in EUR, as well as in US Dollars, or in the currency of the state of residence, based on the average exchange rate to the EUR.

The Consular Section is closed during the Romanian legal holidays.
