The Embassy ensures the representation of Romania to the Kingdom of Thailand, promotes and protects the interests of the sending state and provides consular protection to the Romanian citizens according to the standards of international law as well as those of the Romanian and Thai legislation. The Embassy stimulates and services the dialogue between Romanian and Thai institutions in areas of mutual interest with a view of generating benefits in the development of the bilateral relations. To this end, the Embassy is keen to identify and bring to fruition the opportunities for cooperation and the promotion of mutual knowledge and understanding between the representatives of political, economic and cultural fields in the two countries.

The Embassy also administers the bilateral relations with People's Democratic Republic of Laos and the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.

Consular services provided by the Embassy:

  • Issuance of passports;
  • Dealing with Romanian citizenship;
  • Marriage in the Embassy;
  • Issuance of visas;
  • Issuance of birth, marriage, death, criminal record, employment, name change, divorce certificates;
  • Issuance of notarial acts;
  • Assistance and consular protection of Romanian citizens.

In case Romanian citizen loses or gets his/her documents, money or other belongings stolen abroad, he/she should immediately report it to the local police and obtain a police report.

Thai nationals must be in possession of visas when entering the territory of Romania. Requirements for a short-stay visa for tourism purposes:

  • passport valid at least three months beyond intended period of stay
  • ID card copy
  • 2 recent colour photos 3 cm x 4 cm, on a white background
  • dully filled in visa application form
  • letter of certification of employment
  • booking of a two-way flight ticket to Romania
  • proof of medical insurance valid in Romania, covering one day longer beyond the intended period of stay and of a value not less than 50,000 EUR (original and copy)
  • proof of financial means in the amount of EUR 50/day for the entire period, but not less than EUR 500 or the equivalent in convertible currency
  • proof of accommodation and clear itinerary, as a pre-paid voucher issued by a tourism agency/ hotel unit

Visa fee is the equivalent in baht of 60 EUR.
