The Mission has been in operation for 35 years and is supported by the Samoa Consulate Office in Auckland. The SHC is responsible to the Government of Samoa through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and was established as a High Commission in New Zealand to promote Samoa's interests in economics, trade, tourism, political and security objectives. The mission also provides consular services to Samoan nationals and foreigners travelling to Samoa.

Before travelling to Samoa the traveler should make sure he/she meet the entry requirements:

• Have a return onward ticket
• Possess a passport valid for a minimum of six months after the intended date of departure from Samoa
• Have a valid visa or permit for entry into the country to which they will travel from Samoa
• State accommodation arrangements
• Have documented evidence of sufficient funds for self-support
• Have no record or deportation from other countries
• Have no health problems that would pose a risk to Samoa
• Have no history of criminal charges resulting in a minimum of one year sentencing
• Not appear on any alert or warning lists

Person wishing to extend stay beyond the sixty days covered under the Visitor's Permit must apply for an extension of their permit. All applications must be lodged at the Immigration Office in Apia before the Visitor Permit expires.

NOTE: All passport applications should be lodged with the Consulate Office in Auckland.
