The embassy participates in fulfilling the tasks in the area of foreign policy and relations between Slovakia and the Russian Federation, Armenia, Azerbaijan. The embassy:

  • carries out Slovakia's foreign policy in the field of bilateral relations as well as foreign policy, security and economic interests of the Slovak Republic, 
  • protects rights and acts to the benefit of Slovakia's interests and its citizens,carries out systematic analytical activities with the aim of presenting suggestions for promotion of Slovakia's interests especially in the field of policy, security, trade and economy, science, culture, education, health care and social affairs,
  • provides for contacts with institutions and representatives of the countries of accreditation,
  • provides consular services,
  • makes suggestions, prepares and provides for visits of Slovakia's representatives and representatives of the countries of accreditation, participates in negotiations etc. 

Consular services provided by the Embassy:

  • Issuance of passports;
  • Issuance of ID cards;
  • Issuance of civil status documents;
  • Issuance of visas;
  • Citizenship matters;
  • Authentication and legalization of documents;
  • Registration of Slovak nationals abroad;
  • Assistance to Slovak nationals in case of emergencies.

In the event of the loss or theft of money, a passport, or any other document, it is essential to report this fact to the local police and to insist upon a written confirmation that the loss or theft has been reported. Slovak diplomatic mission can issue a temporary travel document to Slovak citizen, who lost or had his travel documents stolen, to return to Slovakia.

Russian citizens applying for a Schengen visa to visit Slovakia for tourism purposes must submit the following supporting documents:

  • Harmonised visa application form completed and signed by the applicant.
  • Travel document valid for at least three months after the intended date of (last) departure from the Schengen area, containing at least two blank pages and issued within the previous ten years.
  • Photograph in line with ICAO guidelines.
  • Visa fee in line with the categories of the visa facilitation agreements with Russia and the Visa Code.
  • Travel medical insurance covering the entire period of intended stay, valid for all Schengen States and covering any expenses which might arise in connection with repatriation for medical reasons, urgency medical attention, emergency hospital treatment or death during the stay. The minimum coverage must be 30.000 Euros.
  • Copy of the internal passport (issued at the age of 14): pages concerning the applicant's biodata, foreign passport(s) issued to him/her, his/her marital status and registration in Russia.
  • In case of minors: copy of the birth certificate; consent of the parental authority or legal guardian; copy of the valid Schengen visa of the parent(s) travelling with the minor.
  • In case of third-country nationals, proof of legal residence in the Russian Federation.
  • Proof of accommodation. If not available, adequate written description of the planned journey.
  • Proof of itinerary. If not available, adequate written description of the planned journey.
  • Proof of employment. If not available, other proof of financial means and will to return.

The Embassy is closed on national and religious holidays in Slovakia.
