The Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Pretoria is accredited for South Africa, Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Madagascar, Mauritius, Malawi, Namibia, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

From the above mentioned countries of accreditation of the Slovak Embassy in Pretoria, only Angola has a direct diplomatic representation in Slovakia - Embassy of the Republic of Angola to the Slovak Republic with the seat in Bratislava. Republic of South Africa has an Embassy in Vienna, Republic of Austria, which is officially accredited for Slovakia as well. Except for this, South African interests are equally promoted by the office of Honorary Consulate in Bratislava.

The Embassy protects and promotes the interests of the Slovak Republic and its citizens in the above mentioned countries. It officially represents Slovakia, actively supports the strengthening and deepening of the bilateral political, economic, trade, cultural and other relations between Slovakia and the countries of its accreditation.

A valid passport of the country of origin is required while applying for Slovak visa. It must be valid for at least 3 months after the expiry of the visa issued. Slovakia does recognize and accept South African Temporary Passports.

The Embassy of Slovakia in Pretoria is an authority to apply for the Temporary/Permanent Residence in Slovakia. The Embassy does not decide the applications though. Complete applications are sent to Immigration Police in Slovakia for decision. This process can take up to 90 days. All the applicants must appear in person in order to submit such an application and will be interviewed. No exception is allowed in this case.

Only applicants for the residence permit for the purposes of family unification can submit their applications together with relevant documents directly in Slovakia at a relevant Immigration Police Office.

The citizens and the legal residents of the following countries do require visa when travelling to Slovakia a therefore can apply for a visa at the Embassy of Slovakia in Pretoria: South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Angola, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Lesotho, Swaziland, Zambia, Malawi and Madagascar.

Applicants must appear in person for submission of their application and for an interview and for collection of biometric identifier/fingerprints into VIS (Visa Information System).Processing time: up to 14 working days. This list of requirements is not final, the Consular office reserves the right to request further documentation should it be deemed necessary.
