Services provided by the Consular Section of the Embassy:

• Registers Spanish citizens residing abroad;
• Records facts concerning the civil status of people and other situations determined by law in the Civil Register;
• Processes passports, renewals of the national identity cards, certificates of existence, residency certificates and cancellations of consular registration certificates, visas;
• Verifies the authenticity of the signature on the document, and the capacity in which the signatory of the document has acted;

Spanish citizens travelling abroad can apply for a new passport at the consular offices along their route in case of loss or theft, expiry, approaching the expiry date, damage, lack of free pages. To return to Spain, the consular office may issue a laissez-passer travel document valid solely for returning to Spain.

Citizens from any State of the European Union, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein only need a valid national identity document or passport to enter Spain for stays not exceeding ninety days per six-month period.
