The mission of the Embassy is to represent the Government of Sweden in the Czech Republic and to promote relations between Sweden and the Czech Republic.  The Embassy monitors and reports on political and economic developments in the Czech Republic, it promotes trade and cultural exchanges between the Czech Republic and Sweden. The Embassy is also involved in promoting the image and the knowledge of Sweden in the Czech Republic.  The Embassy conducts consular work and serves the Swedish citizens who are residents in the Czech Republic or just visiting this country.

The Embassy provides the following services:

  • Issues temporary passports for trips back to Sweden;
  • Registers Swedish citizens living abroad;
  • Allows Swedish citizens to participate in electoral events;
  • Assists in contacting insurance companies from Sweden in case of accidents;
  • Helps Swedish citizens contact their relatives/friends, lawyer, doctor, interpreter and provides consultation in case of emergencies.

In emergency situations the Embassy can help with the following:

  • advice on how to transfer money from Sweden, that is, helping people help themselves
  • contacting insurance networks - Euro-Alarm, Nordic Assistance or SOS International
  • contacting relatives in an emergency situation or solving other problems associated with such an accident, acute illness or death
  • advice about the defense lawyer, doctor and interpreter, and if necessary get help to contact them

If a Swedish passport has been lost the person can apply for an emergency passport. An emergency passport is issued for one single imminent journey only. The maximum validity of an emergency passport is seven months. The Embassy will need to see proof of urgency. The Emergency passport is usually issued the same day.

NOTE:

  • All documents have to be submitted in original and the application form filled in.
  • Biometric photos and fingerprints are taken at the Embassy as part of the application process
  • The Embassy is unable to accept an incomplete application.
  • The applicant must collect the passport in person from the passport section.
  • Parents/legal guardians may collect a child’s emergency passport provided they can identify themselves (valid passport or photo ID).
