One of the Embassy's main tasks is to promote relations between Sweden and Russia and develop cooperation in the fields of politics, economy and culture.
Consular services provided by the Embassy:
- Issuance of passports;
- Registration of Swedish citizens abroad;
- Renewal of driving licenses;
- Citizenship matters;
- Pensions and benefits;
- Issuance of records and certificates;
- Voting rights for expatriates;
- Wedding abroad;
- Issuance of visas;
- Assistance in cases of emergency.
Holders of Russian ordinary passport require a visa for a short stay in Sweden.
Visa application requirements:
- A completed and signed application form no. 119031.
- Visa Fee in cash.
- A passport or some other valid travel document.
- Two photographs in passport format, taken straight from the front and no older than six months.
- Individual medical insurance covering the cost of emergency treatment and transport home for medical reasons.
- Enough money to support himself/herself during his/her stay.
- Booked return ticket.
- Copy of internal Russian passport (page with photograph as well as all additional pages containing an entry).
- Documents that are specifically associated with the type of visit the applicant is planning.
Holders of Russian diplomatic passport do not require a visa for a short stay according to an agreement between the EC and Russian Federation.
The time it takes to process an application at the Embassy/Consulate-Generals varies but decisions are generally reached within a month.
The Embassy is closed on public holidays.
