In addition to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia the Embassy is accredited to the State of Kuwait, the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Yemen.

Embassy's main task is to promote and strengthen the relations between Sweden and these countries in a wide range of areas. Political dialogue, trade, investment and promotion of Sweden as a modern prime business and tourist destination are priorities. However, Embassy does also contribute to further enhance the cooperation in such fields as education/research and culture. Furthermore, Embassy provides consular service to Swedish nationals living in or visiting Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman and Yemen as well as attending to visa and other migration related services for persons planning to visit Sweden.

Consular services provided by the Embassy:

  • Renewal of passports;
  • Visa and other migration matters;
  • Registration of Swedish citizens abroad;
  • Renewal of driving licenses;
  • Issuance of national identification cards;
  • Citizenship matters;
  • Marriage and child birth;
  • Pensions;
  • Assistance in cases of emergency;
  • Voting abroad.

Citizens of Saudi Arabia require visa for entry into Sweden. Visas are granted for a maximum of 90 days at a time. Only in exceptional cases are applicants granted a visa for a visit of more than 90 days' duration, but never for longer than a year.

Tourist visa requirements:

  • a passport that is valid for a minimum of three months after applicant's visa has expired and which has been issued in the last ten-year period;
  • money for applicants' keep and for the journey home. Sweden requires that applicants have SEK 450 for each day spent in Sweden. In certain circumstances, this amount may be lower, for example in the case of a young child, if the cost of food and accommodation is paid in advance or if applicants are going to stay with relatives or friends. Applicants must be able to demonstrate that they have sufficient funds for their keep with the help, for example, of bank statements or a document in which the person inviting the applicant to Sweden promises to meet all expenses during the visit;
  • individual medical travel insurance which covers the costs which could arise as a result of emergency medical assistance, emergency hospitalisation or medical repatriation. The insurance should cover costs of at least EUR 30,000 and be valid in all the Schengen countries;
  • two passport photographs in which applicants are looking straight ahead and which are not more than six months old;
  • Family details appendix to the application, form no. 239011;
  • other documents which the embassy may require.

The time it takes to process an application at the Embassy/Consulate-Generals varies but decisions are generally reached within a month.

Please, note that the Embassy is not accepting cash.

The Embassy is closed during the weekends, Fridays and Saturdays, and public holidays.
