Task of the Embassy of Sweden is to promote and strengthen the relations between Sweden and Singapore and Brunei respectively. The activities are focused on trade promotion but the Embassy does also contribute to further cooperation in other areas such as defense, culture and education. Furthermore, the Embassy provides consular services to Swedish citizens living in or visiting Singapore and Brunei as well as immigration related services, except visas for people planning to go to Sweden.

Consular services provided by the Embassy:

  • Renewal of passports;
  • Registration of Swedish citizens abroad;
  • Renewal of driving licenses;
  • Issuance of national identification cards;
  • Citizenship matters;
  • Marriage and child birth;
  • Pensions;
  • Assistance in cases of emergency;
  • Voting abroad.

If Swedish passport is lost or stolen, it should be immediately reported to the local police, which will provide a copy of the notification. This notification will be needed when applying for a temporary passport.

Visas to Sweden are handled by the Royal Danish Embassy. Residence permits and work permits to Sweden are handled by the Embassy of Sweden.

Tourist visa requirements:

  • A signed cover letter or a properly completed and signed application form.
  • One passport photo.
  • Passport (original or copy) with minimum two blank pages. Also copies of Schengen visas issued within the last three years.
  • Residents in Singapore must present a residence permit valid for at least 3 months after the intended visit to the Schengen area.
  • Flight itinerary (confirmed booking of return flight - not paid flight ticket).
  • Travel medical insurance covering any expenses arising in connection with repatriation for medical reasons, urgent medical attention and/or emergency medical treatment. TMI must be valid throughout the entire Schengen area and minimum coverage shall be EUR 30,000.
  • Copy of documentation of financial means during the stay and coverage of travel expenses by personal bank statement of applicant.
  • Hotel reservation or other confirmed accommodation for the entire trip.
  • Letter from employer stating applicant's position, period of employment, period of leave and confirming that the applicant can return to his/her job after granted leave.
  • Application fee in cash (unless the fee has been paid online).

The visa fee is S$100 (EUR 60) payable in Singapore dollars. In addition the Visa Application Centre will charge a handling fee of S$47 (EUR 28) per case. Payment made in cash only.

The Embassy is closed on public holidays. If a public day falls on Sunday, the Embassy will be closed on the next Monday.
