As the official representation of Switzerland, the Embassy covers all matters concerning diplomatic relations between the two countries. It represents Swiss interests in the areas of political, economic, financial and legal affairs, as well as science, education and culture.

The Swiss Embassy in Ankara is the competent representation for diplomatic relations with Turkey. However, for all consular affairs please contact the Consulate General of Switzerland in Istanbul.

Consular services provided:

  • Issuance of attestations and certificates;
  • Citizenship matters;
  • Civil status affairs (marriage, birth, death, etc.);
  • Issuance of criminal records;
  • Emergency assistance for Swiss citizens in distress;
  • Legalisation of documents;
  • Issuance of passports and identity cards;
  • Political rights to vote;
  • Registration, deregistration and change of address;
  • Social security and social insurance;
  • Registration of Swiss citizens abroad.

The loss or theft of a Swiss ID document abroad must be reported as soon as possible to the local police as well as to the relevant Swiss representation. A police report (declaration of loss) is also required to make it possible to prepare a new identity document, such as a temporary passport.

Visa applications for Swiss Schengen visas must be submitted through the outsourcing agency TLScontact, which then forwards the visa applications from their application centers in Istanbul and Ankara to the Consulate General in Istanbul for further processing.

TLScontact is operating two application centers:

Istanbul: Profilo Shopping Mall, Gulbahar Mah. 5 Yil Sok. N°1D, Sisli/Istanbul
Ankara: Sheraton Hotel, Congress and Cultural Center, on ground level of Boğaz Sokak, Gaziosmanpasa/Ankara

Holders of Turkish diplomatic or special passports can travel visa free for stays up to a maximum of 90 days within 6 months if the journey is not subject to authorization.

Holders of Turkish ordinary passports need a visa to travel to Switzerland. Tourist visa requirements:

  • One (1) application form duly completed: in German, French, Italian, Spanish or English; online, by typewriter or in block letters with a blue or black pen; and personally signed by the applicant.
  • Signed passport, issued within ten (10) preceding years, valid at least three (3) months beyond the planned stay in the Schengen states and containing at least two (2) empty pages.
  • One (1) copy of the applicant's passport: pages 1-4; last page; all pages showing extension of validity; all pages with previously obtained visas.
  • Two (2) recent and identical, biometric passport-size pictures.
  • Visa application fee: EUR 60.-, children age 6 to 12: EUR 35. (TRY equivalence)
  • Original and one copy of a travel / health insurance; minimum coverage EUR 30'000.- valid for all Schengen states for the whole period of the intended stay. The insurance policy must cover the costs for repatriation in case of disease, urgent medical expenses and/or hospitalization.
  • Flight reservation (roundtrip) or other proof of intended transport.
  • Hotel reservation or travel plan.
  • Proof of sufficient financial means - Recent bank statements turnover during the last three (3) months (original and copy).
  • Employer/Employee: employment certificate and/or approval for leave, SGK-insurance confirmation and SGK "hizmet dökümü", income statement covering the last three (3) months (or similar), company registration in the chamber of commerce(copy), bulletin of the trade register (copy), tax scale (copy).
  • Students: confirmation of the school.
  • Pensioners: Pensioner's booklet or bank account statement (original and copy).
  • Farmer: Certificate issued by a chamber of agriculture.
  • Minors travelling without their legal representative(s) must bring an authorization of their legal representative(s) legalized by a notary (original and copy).

The Embassy is closed on public holidays.
