The Embassy's main mission is to promote and further enhance political, economic, cultural and trade relations with New Zealand and the other countries of accreditation. Furthermore, the Embassy provides general information on Thailand and offers consular services to Thai nationals visiting or living in New Zealand as well as to foreign citizens wishing to visit Thailand.

The Consular Section of the Thai Embassy in Wellington provides consular assistance and services to overseas Thai citizens, which include citizen registration, identification documents and passport related matters, emergency travel documents, legalization of documents, etc. The Consulate also issues visas to foreign nations who wish to visit Thailand and offers a range of other services and information on Thailand.

The Consular Section of the Embassy offers a wide range of visas including:

• Visa on Arrival
• Non-Immigrant Visa, etc.

New Zealand passport holders are not required to obtain a visa when entering Thailand for tourism purposes and will be permitted to stay in Thailand for a period not exceeding 30 days on each visit. If such foreigners enter Thailand at immigration checkpoints which border neighboring countries, they will be allowed to stay for 15 days each time.

Travelers who enter Thailand under the Tourist Visa Exemption category and would like to leave and re-enter may only stay for a cumulative duration which does not exceed 90 days and is within a 6-month period from the date of first entry. Passport or travel document must be valid for at least 6 months after the date of first entry.
