Diplomatic relations between Turkey and the Czech Republic, then Czechoslovakia, was established on 11 October 1924. The first representative of Turkey to Czechoslovakia was Minister Plenipotentiary Vasıf Bey (Çınar). Diplomatic relations between both countries continued from 1924 to 1963 at this level. The Turkish Embassy in Prague also contains the Office of the Armed Forces Attaché and the Office of the Commercial Counselor. There is not a Turkish Consulate General in the Czech Republic. Consular services are undertaken by the Consular Section of our Embassy. Our Honorary Consulate in Brno, the responsibility area of which covers South Moravia and Zlin, was opened with a ceremony on 27 February 2014. The process to open our Honorary Consulate in Ostrava is due to be completed in a short period of time.

Consular services provided by the Turkish Embassy in Prague:

  • Birth, marriage registration;
  • Issuance, renewal of passports;
  • Notarial services;
  • Handling of requests to acquire Turkish citizenship;
  • Issuance of visas.

Single entry visa is valid for one year and allows its holder, depending on the nationality and passport type, to stay in Turkey up to three months and to visit the country only one time.

Multiple entry visa is valid for up to five years and allows its holder to make multiple visits and, depending on the nationality and passport type he/she can stay one to three months each time he/she enters into Turkey.

Transit visa is valid for up to three months and allows the person to travel to another country through transiting the Turkish territory.

Czech citizens are exempted from the requirement of an entry visa to Turkey for their touristic visits, provided that the duration of their stay is no longer than 90 days within a period of 180 days. Visits for special purposes such as long term residence, education, scientific research, montage-maintenance-repair work and study are subject to a "special type of visa" issued by the Turkish diplomatic missions abroad, upon receiving the approval of relevant Turkish authorities.

In case Turkish citizens lose their passports, they can apply at the nearest Turkish embassy in the area for a temporary travel document which allows return back to Turkey. This travel document can be arranged in the same day and is valid up to 1 month.
