Top priority of the Embassy is to maintain the momentum in the relationship between Turkey and Portugal, to further reinforce strong and deep rooted ties of friendship between peoples of these countries, to explore new avenues for cooperation as well as expand and consolidate economic relations and commercial exchanges between the two countries, to promote a better understanding of Turkey and its culture and to always serve as a "home away from home" for all Turkish citizens residing in or simply visiting Portugal.
Services provided by the Consular Section of the Embassy:
- Issuance of passports;
- Issuance of visas;
- Issuance of civil status certificates;
- Notarial services;
- Military service matters;
- Citizenship matters;
- Legal issues;
- Registration of Turkish citizens abroad;
- Assistance to Turkish citizens in case of emergencies.
In case Turkish passport is lost or stolen while traveling abroad, it should be immediately reported to the local police. Turkish diplomatic mission can issue a new passport.
Citizens of Portugal are allowed to enter Turkey with their national IDs. As of 1 March 2013, Portuguese citizens may also use their valid national identity cards and passports which have expired within the last five years when entering Turkey for touristic purposes.
Portuguese citizens who wish to enter Turkey for other purposes such as working, transportation, education, long-term stay etc. should obtain their visas from the Consular Section of the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Lisbon by submitting their valid passports.
The Embassy is closed on public holidays.
