It supports British business by offering expert trade advice to UK companies interested to invest or grow in the Romanian market. Through a dedicated team of political and economic officers, the Embassy is working closely with Romania to increase economic growth and competitiveness in the EU.

It also plays an active role in supporting Romania’s efforts to fulfill its EU commitments. British Embassy offers consular assistance to British nationals living or travelling in Romania and works closely with Romanian law enforcement, security and defence authorities to share expertise and develop stronger ties.

Consular services provided by the Embassy:

  • Legalisation service;
  • Notarial services;
  • Help for British nationals.

In case of lost or stolen British passport, application for a replacement will take at least 8 weeks from when the application is received by Her Majesty's Passport Office in the UK. The Embassy may be able to provide an emergency travel document, if an applicant can't get a new or replacement passport in time to travel.

British Embassy in Bucharest does not deal with visa matters. For information on whether visitors need a visa to travel to the United Kingdom and how to apply, they should see the UK Visas and Immigration website.

Holders of Romanian passport do not need a visa to come to the UK.

Fees for consular services are paid at the embassy on the day of the appointment and can be paid by local and UK credit/debit card or in cash in RON. Consular fees are not refundable.

The Embassy is closed on British and Romanian holidays.
