British Embassy represents the British government in its relations with the Russian government and support the range of British interests in Russia through broadly based cooperation which is of benefit to both countries.

Consular services provided by the Embassy:

  • Assists in emergency situations;
  • Issues passports;
  • Provides legalisation service;
  • Provides birth and death registration;
  • Deals with marriages in Russia;
  • Provides notarial and documentary services;

Russian citizens must apply for a visa to visit the UK. Documents the applicants must provide:

  • A current passport or other valid travel identification;
  • One passport sized colour photograph;
  • Evidence that the applicant can support himself/herself during the trip, e.g. bank statements or payslips for the last 6 months.

The applicant will need a page in his/her passport that’s blank on both sides for his/her visa. The applicant will also need to provide a certified translation of any documents that aren’t in English or Welsh.

Applicants can apply for a visa up to 3 months before their date of travel to the UK. They should get a decision on their visa within 3 weeks.

Fees for consular services are paid at the Embassy/Consulate by Visa/MasterCard in GBP (British Pounds) on the day of the application. If a person plans to pay for consular services with a third party card, the cardholder must complete and sign credit card Authorization form and enclose a copy of his/her passport (information page with signature).
