The Consular Section of the US Embassy Dublin provides a full range of services to American citizens and the travelling public, including information on Immigrant/Non-immigrant Visa issuance, Protective Services, Social Security benefits and assistance to Veterans, US Passport processing and Notarial Services, among others.

The American Citizen Services Unit (ACS) of the Consular Section provides a full-range of passport and citizenship services, birth registrations for US citizen children born abroad as well as notary services. ACS also provides information and assistance to American citizens in Ireland.

Security at the Embassy
Please do not bring any electronic devices, such as laptop computers, Blackberries, iPods, or large bags, such as backpacks, suitcases or packages to the Consular Section as there are no storage facilities on Embassy grounds. Security guards may hold small tourist cameras and cell phones until your departure, but there is no storage available for any other large items or electronic devices — please do not bring them at the time of your appointment.

The American Citizen Services Unit in Dublin can issue an emergency, limited validity passport for immediate travel the day you apply. You must bring proof of travel: airline ticket or electronic ticket if your departure is imminent. Please review our Hours of Operation. After reading the information below, please schedule an appointment. If the schedule system does not have an appointment that meets your travel needs, e-mail your request for an emergency appointment to ACSDublin@state.gov.

All applications for children under 16 require the consent of both parents or legal guardians of the child.

The Embassy can only notarize documents intended for use in the United States or documents required in connection with a US visa, passport or taxation matters. Notarial services can be performed at the US Embassy Dublin by appointment only.  Schedule, reschedule or cancel an appointment.  If you receive an e-mail confirmation of your appointment, there is no need to call or otherwise confirm your appointment.

If you are an American citizen in Ireland in need of emergency assistance outside of regular business hours (including weekends and holidays), please call the Embassy’s main number (01)630-6200 and follow the prompts to reach the operator.  You will be connected to the US Marine Security Guard on duty who will assist with directing your call.

Fees: Certain banking institutions are not issuing bank drafts for under $500 US dollar amounts, for mail in DS-82 applications we will accept a postal order in the current amount of €83 (euro), made payable to the US Embassy. The Embassy is not authorized to accept personal checks for payment of passport fees.
