If an American passport has been stolen, a police report will be needed when applying for a new passport at the U.S. Embassy. In case of an emergency, American citizens can apply for an emergency passport.

The Philippines has not been added to the list of countries eligible for participation in the Visa Waiver Program (VWP). Citizens of the Philippines must apply for a visitor visa to visit the U.S. 

Visa requirements:

  • DS-160 online nonimmigrant visa electronic application;
  • Passport;
  • Photo;
  • Extension of stay/change of status;
  • Evidence of ties and financial status of the applicant, or the applicant’s parents, if minor, in the Philippines;
  • Documents concerning purpose and length of the trip and ability to cover the costs of the trip;
  • Proof of travel medical insurance for applicants who might be at risk of requiring medical care while in the United States.

There are three ways to pay the machine-readable visa fee:

  1. Pay in cash (prevailing Philippine peso equivalent of the machine-readable visa fee) at any branch of the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI).
  2. Pay through online bill payment option provided by BPI for their customers.
  3. Online payment through Bancnet.

For the safety and security of all applicants and employees, visa applicants are NOT PERMITTED to bring the following into the Embassy:

  • Any kind of electronic and battery-operated devices (mobile phone, digital camera, laptop, music player, portable game consoles such as PSP, USB thumb drive, mobile tablet, etc.).
  • Lighter and any flame-generating device.
  • Sharp objects.
  • Any device with an On/Off switch.

Applicants who bring such devices will be denied entry and will be requested to book a new interview appointment.

The Embassy is closed on Philippine and American holidays.
