The Embassy is responsible for a range of vital functions including working with our citizens, promoting Irish economic interests and supporting human development in this region. It also provides passport and consular services.
Ireland has an Honorary Consulate in Lagos which can advise Irish companies and provide assistance to Irish citizens in difficulties. The Honorary Consulate is responsible for Lagos, Ogun, Ondu, Osun and Oyo states.

If you have lost your passport, before applying for a new passport you must submit a stamped police report and a Sworn Affidavit executed at the High Court which explains how the passport was lost or stolen. When applying for your new passport please bring these two documents along with three different pieces of photographic identification (such as Permanent Voter's Card, driver's licence or Nigerian passport) and three different proofs of address (such as utility bills or bank statements).
The Embassy Visa Office processes applications from residents of Nigeria, Ghana and Senegal. Citizens of these three countries require a visa to enter Ireland. They must already have their visa before they board a flight to Ireland.
Resident of Nigeria can submit their applications at the VFS offices in Abuja or Lagos. Applicants must attend in person but it is not necessary to make an appointment. Fingerprints will be taken at the VFS office for all applicants aged 6 years and over. The child's parent or guardian should be present when the child's fingerprints are taken.

The Embassy is closed on public holidays. The Nigerian authorities generally move public holidays falling on Saturdays or Sundays to adjacent working days. Islamic Holidays are dependent on the cycles of the moon and the exact date is generally not known until it is formally declared a few days before the holiday.
