The Embassy of Malta in Cairo provides the following services:

New Maltese passports are biometric and issued by the Passport Office in Malta. Hence applicants must submit their application in person at the Consulate where their biometric data (photograph, fingerprints and signature) is captured electronically and subsequently transmitted to the Passport Office in Malta for processing.

Egyptian nationals need visas to visit Malta.

Supporting documents for a visa must state:

  • The purpose of the visit;
  • Means of transport and for the return journey;
  • Means of subsistence (support) during the journey and stay;
  • Accommodation arrangements.

In addition, in support of an application for a short-term or travel visa, applicants must show that they are in possession of adequate and valid individual or group Travel Medical Insurance to cover any expenses which might arise in connection with repatriation for medical reasons, urgent medical attention and/or emergency hospital treatment. The insurance must be valid throughout the Schengen Member States and cover the entire period of the person’s stay.  The minimum coverage is of € 30,000.

Pursuant to Regulation (EC) No 810/2009, applicants who are being invited from a reference host person in Malta must present a specific form – the Declaration of Proof – in which the Maltese host will declare being able to accommodate the applicant and/or being able to bear the applicant’s living costs and repatriation.

Visa section opening hours are Sunday to Thursday from 8:30 to 12:00 and may only be attended by appointment.  To book an appointment please call on (00202) 27356717 from 12:30 and 15:30.
