The mission of the United States Embassy is to advance the interests of the United States, and to serve and protect U.S. citizens in Qatar. The Embassy engages the government and a broad range of organizations and individuals in Qatar to promote shared values.

American Citizen Services (ACS) Unit of the U.S. Embassy in Qatar provides information and assistance to U.S. citizens residing in or traveling in Qatar. American Citizen Services (ACS) Unit can assist when U.S. citizens in Qatar are arrested, missing, victims of violent crime, become ill, die, or need immediate help. In the event of an emergency that threatens the health or safety of a U.S. citizen, the Embassy is ready to assist 24 hours a day.

The Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy in Doha is responsible for providing visa services to those seeking to enter the United States for a temporary period and for those wishing to take up indefinite or permanent residence in the United States.

All services are by appointment only in order to better serve customers and reduce waiting times. 

Qatari nationals need visas to visit the United States of America. Business/tourist visa requirements:

  • A Nonimmigrant Visa Electronic Application (DS-160) Form.
  • A passport valid for travel to the United States with a validity date at least six months beyond your intended period of stay in the United States (unless country-specific agreements provide exemptions). If more than one person is included in your passport, each person desiring a visa must submit an application.
  • One (1) 2"x2" (5cmx5cm) photograph taken within the last six months.
  • A receipt showing payment of your US$160 non-refundable nonimmigrant visa application processing fee paid in local currency.
  • Current proof of income, tax payments, property or business ownership, or assets.
  • Your travel itinerary and/or other explanation about your planned trip.
  • A letter from your employer detailing your position, salary, how long you have been employed, any authorized vacation, and the business purpose, if any, of your U.S. trip.
  • Criminal/court records pertaining to any arrest or conviction anywhere, even if you completed your sentence or were later pardoned.

When coming for your scheduled appointment, please review the restricted items list for the Embassy and bring two types of picture identification (other than a passport) to gain access to our compound.

  • No suitcases, backpacks, packages, or handbags
  • No fluids, chemicals, aerosols or hazardous materials
  • No weapons or dangerous objects of any kind
