U.S. Citizen Services at the Embassy in Abu Dhabi offers a full range of services including passport, citizenship and notarial services.  The unit also assists U.S. Citizens in an event of an emergency such as death, arrest, illness, injury, missing persons, destitution and other circumstances. The Consular Sections of the U.S. Embassy and US Consulate General in the United Arab Emirates are responsible for providing visa services to those seeking to enter the United States for a temporary period and for those wishing to take up indefinite or permanent residence in the United States.

If you have a lost, stolen, or severely damaged passport, please apply for a replacement passport immediately. The lost/stolen passport can no longer be used after a new application is made. To apply for a replacement passport, you must make an appointment and come in person to the Embassy with the following:

  • Passport Application Form DS-11. Completed but not signed.
  • Statement Regarding Lost or Stolen Passport DS-64. Completed but not signed.
  • Make an appointment on Embassy’s online appointment system.
  • Provide a police report from local authorities.
  • One photograph (Photo must be 2 inches by 2 inches square, recent, and with white background.
  • If available, bring any identification documents you have (driver’s license, labor card, work ID, etc)
  • If available, bring original evidence of citizenship (original U.S. birth certificate, naturalization certificate, or Consular Report of Birth Abroad).
  • If the replacement passport is for a child under age 16, please bring the child and provide: 1) Child’s original birth certificate for proof of parentage; 2) Both parents’ consent.
  • The fee is $105 USD to replace a child’s passport.
  • The fee is $135 USD to replace an adult’s passport.

The new e-passport is printed in the U.S. and requires about two and half weeks to process. You may keep your current passport and have it cancelled when you collect your new passport from the Embassy (the Embassy will not cancel the UAE residence visa).

UAE citizens need visas to visit the United States. Visitor Visa requirements:

  • Passport valid for travel to the United States. Applicant’s passport must be valid for at least six months beyond his/her period of stay in the United States.
  • Nonimmigrant Visa Application, Form DS-160 confirmation page.
  • Application fee payment receipt, if applicant is required to pay before his/her interview.
  • Photo. Applicant will upload his/her photo while completing the online Form DS-160. If the photo upload fails, applicant must bring one printed photo.
  • Evidence of the purpose of applicant’s trip.
  • Evidence of applicant’s interest to depart the United States after his/her trip.
  • Evidence of applicant’s ability to pay all costs of the trip.

All consular fees may be paid in U.S. dollars, UAE dirham, or by major credit card. Some of the credit/debit cards are not accepted by the system.

The Embassy is closed on public holidays.
