The Florence Art Studio:
Learn as a complete beginner or enhance your existing skills in one of the oldest painting techniques, Fresco; painting made over a fresh lime plaster (fresco in Italian). The technique has been used for centuries to decorate churches and palaces, where colors are made up of natural pigments without fixatives diluted in water and spread on the fresh mortar which, when drying, absorbs them and fixes them with a chemical process. The fundamental element of fresco painting is its duration over time; much greater than that of dry painting.

Located in the heart of the historic city center, The Florence Art Studio is a private working studio providing short and intensive art programs & short workshops taught in English to international students and professionals from around the world in Tuscany, Northern Italy.

In our short Fresco course, the various phases of the creation of a fresco are studied and carried out:- preparation of the sketch
- preparation of the plaster
- application of the drawing.

As a working surface, the students use terracotta instead of the wall, so they have the opportunity to take their work with them at the end of the course.

The minimum fresco course duration is one week. With the exception of colors and brushes, the supporting materials are included in the course price. Workshops throughout the year to suit holidays & vacation programs, weekend classes, & private lessons for tourists.
