Institute Of Intensive English, Hawaii:
The Institute of Intensive English (IIE) is the highest quality English school in Hawaii. We are a full-service English school located in Waikiki, Honolulu, Hawaii, one block from Waikiki beach. Our teachers are very experienced and highly-qualified. We have been teaching English to international students for over 20 years. We offer small class sizes, and Total English immersion with our English only policy. We offer daily social activities, homestay and other forms of housing. IIE issues I-20s for U.S. student visas. All of our homestay families have been been visited by our director to ensure that you will have the best homestay experience possible.

English Language Courses in Hawaii:

General English Programs:
There are six levels of General English programs ranging from beginner to advanced levels.


Short Term English Program (STEP) - 20 hours/week
This General English course focuses on a full range of English skills including Listening, Reading, Speaking and Grammar and more.


Intensive English Program (IEP) - 25 hours/week
This is a multi-skilled class that offers a full range of English skills such as Conversation, Listening, Reading, Grammar, Pronunciation, and more. 

Scheduled Tuesday to Friday, each course is made up of two periods, and taught by a separate teacher. Students also have Elective classes on Monday 9am-1pm. 


Long Term-IEP (L-IEP) - 25 hours/week
Designed with a schedule that is especially suited for students on an extended stay in Hawaii, this General English course follows the same internationally-recognized curriculum as our morning Intensive English Program. Minimum enrollment is 12 weeks and an F-1 visa is required.


Super-Intensive English Program (SIEP) - 35 hours/week 
In this General English program, you combine the Intensive English Program (IEP) with Speaking with Purpose (conversation classes).

This course is specifically designed for students seeking maximum improvement in minimum time, and is highly recommended for serious English learners.   


Academic Year English Program:
The academic year is four 9-week sessions for a total of 36 weeks of study. Students join General English 25 Lessons (IEP).


Academic Track (College Pathway) Program - 25 lessons/week:
Students in the Academic Track program are conditionally accepted into an American college without a TOEFL score requirement. 

Upon successful completion, students may enter directly into designated colleges and universities in Hawaii, and take college credit courses, without taking a TOEFL test. 

Academic Track students take IIE's Intensive English Program (IEP) with Academic English as Monday elective. Students also receive afternoon tutoring on academic English skills for a minimum of 2 hours weekly.


Cambridge Exam Preparation:
Students preparing for First Certificate in English (FCE) or Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) can take 9-week or 12-week courses.


Private English Lessons:
Private tutoring offers one-on-one lessons for students. This course is the best option for students who do not have the time to study in our other courses as it is extremely flexible and you can choose hours that best suit you.

Private tutoring is also ideal for students who want to concentrate on a specific area of study such as grammar, conversational English, TOEFL / TOEIC exam preparation, or functional English. Private English lessons are available for students of all ages.


Small Group English Conversation Classes:
This course is a semi-private study group with 1-5 students per class. It is perfect for students who want personal teacher attention, and are serious about improving their English. 


Business English Courses:
At IIE, we offer 3 types of Business English courses. Students normally need to be at least B2 Level (Upper-Intermediate) in English. Courses start from one week, from 10 lessons a week to 35 lessons a week.

- Business Private Lessons - specifically designed to suit individual goals and needs
- Corporate English Group Training Program  - We can custom design a program that is perfect for your company's needs
