Full Professor of Economics Focus Quantitative Economic History

Overview

The University of Bayreuth is a research‑oriented university with internationally competitive, interdisciplinary focus areas in research and teaching. The Faculty of Law, Business & Economics seeks to appoint a Full Professor of Economics with a Focus on Quantitative Economic History at salary grade W3 to commence as soon as possible. This is a permanent civil service position.

Teaching responsibilities include core and elective courses in economics in the bachelor’s and master’s programmes offered by the Faculty of Law, Business & Economics. The successful candidate will also support the training of postgraduate students and may contribute to the bachelor’s and master’s programmes in economics, the master’s programme History & Economics, and other interdisciplinary programmes. An interest in helping to shape the degree programme portfolio would be welcome.

Applicants should have a strong track record in the field of empirical economic history, including publications in leading international journals, relevant teaching experience, and experience in securing and managing third‑party funded projects. The use of modern micro‑econometric methods is expected. A willingness to engage in interdisciplinary research collaboration and the ability to relate to the research priorities of the faculty are expected.

The ability to teach in English is required.
