Product Designer

Hi! We are AMBOSS and we are looking for a Product Designer to join our Education team in Berlin. In this individual contributor role, you will help shape learning experiences that support medical students and professionals as they prepare for career-defining exams and continue learning throughout their careers.

You will shape the end-to-end exam preparation experience, with a focus on our Qbank product. Your work will help medical learners globally to practice more effectively, close knowledge gaps, simulate real exam conditions, and benefit from personalized, AI-powered learning experiences, directly supporting AMBOSS's mission to empower healthcare professionals. Working in a cross-functional team with Product, Engineering, Medical, User Research, and Design, you'll turn user needs into intuitive, practical solutions, validate them with users and data, and bring them to life.

This role is ideal for a designer who enjoys simplifying complex workflows, is passionate about educational and medical UX, and is excited to explore how AI can enhance both learning and the design process. You will report to the Director of UX Design.

• Design and improve the end-to-end exam preparation experience for medical students and professionals in Germany, the United States, and international and adjacent healthcare markets across desktop and mobile.
• Work as part of the Qbank Experience Team, collaborating closely with Product, Engineering, Medical, Research, and Design to understand user needs and turn them into thoughtful product experiences.
• Take ownership of assigned design problems and projects, from understanding the problem and exploring concepts through prototyping, validation, detailed design, and implementation.
• Design and prototype learning experiences that help users practice effectively, reinforce knowledge, and prepare confidently for professional exams.
• Use qualitative and quantitative insights to inform your design decisions, working with our in-house User Research and Data teams to understand user behavior, validate solutions, and iterate on your designs.
• Collaborate with medical experts and editors to understand the needs of our highly knowledgeable users and translate complex medical and educational requirements into simple, intuitive experiences.
• Work closely with engineers throughout the design and implementation process to ensure that shipped experiences reflect the design intent while taking technical opportunities and constraints into account.
• Collaborate with other product teams to help create a cohesive and personalized user experience across relevant parts of AMBOSS, such as sign-up, dashboard, shop, and user profile.
• Apply and advocate for strong design principles, usability, and accessibility, contributing to high- quality and consistent experiences across AMBOSS.
• Contribute to the wider AMBOSS Design community through design critiques, knowledge sharing, and contributions to our design system, interaction patterns, and other shared design topics.
• Build a deep understanding of our users and advocate for their needs throughout the product development process.

• 3+ years of professional experience in UX or product design, with strong skills in information architecture and communicating complex information clearly and concisely.
• Strong user-centered design skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of UX and visual design fundamentals.
• Proficiency in Figma and modern prototyping tools, with an interest in using AI tools to support and improve the design process.
