About

the Role

We’re looking for a Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager (all genders) to help shape and scale our Procurement function in Berlin. You will establish and implement strategic procurement processes, build the first material group strategies and drive their end‑to‑end implementation. You will prepare and lead contract negotiations and contribute to the professionalisation and digitisation of Procurement.

Material Groups in Scope
  • Timber / CLT (cross‑laminated timber) and related engineered wood products
  • MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) including HVAC, electrical components, piping and sub‑assemblies
What You’ll Be Doing
1. Build strategic procurement foundations
  • Establish and implement strategic procurement processes (e.g., sourcing methodology, governance, templates, KPIs).
  • Develop the first material group strategies (category roadmaps, supplier landscape, TCO logic, risk and sustainability criteria) and drive implementation across the organisation.
  • Shape supplier segmentation and SRM routines (performance reviews, development plans, risk mitigation).
  • Ensure cross‑functional alignment with Engineering, Production, Quality and Project teams to translate requirements into scalable sourcing strategies.
2. Lead sourcing & negotiations
  • Own supplier discovery, RFx, benchmarking and award decisions for construction‑material categories.
  • Prepare and execute commercial and contractual negotiations (pricing, frameworks, terms & conditions) in collaboration with Legal/Finance and key stakeholders.
  • Drive supplier qualification and continuous improvement with a focus on availability, quality, lead times, and total cost.
  • Build strong partnerships across Europe and proactively manage supply risks (capacity, market volatility, compliance).

Depending on your strengths, you will own work streams in one of the following areas to make Procurement scalable, transparent and data‑driven.

Process Management
  • Design and roll out scalable end‑to‑end processes (Source‑to‑Contract / Procure‑to‑Pay).
  • Define roles, approvals and standards; develop playbooks and templates (RFx, negotiation, contract standards).
Data Analytics
  • Build spend and category transparency; define a KPI framework (savings, supplier performance, delivery reliability, risk).
  • Create decision‑ready dashboards and routines for performance and savings tracking.
Process Automation
  • Identify automation opportunities (workflows, approvals, master data, reporting) and drive implementation with tool owners.
  • Improve data quality and process compliance through smart tooling and standardisation.
Communication & Change Management
  • Create change narratives, communication plans and training formats to ensure adoption of new processes and tools.
  • Facilitate workshops and enable stakeholders to work effectively with the new procurement set‑up.
What You Bring
  • 5‑7 years of experience in procurement consulting OR 7‑10 years of professional expertise in strategic sourcing setting up and implementing material group and dual‑sourcing strategies with measurable impact.
  • Strong negotiation and contracting skills; structured, ownership‑driven working style.
  • Analytical mindset (TCO, supplier performance, risk) and ability to translate insights into action.
  • Confident communicator, strong stakeholder management, and a collaborative approach in cross‑functional set‑ups.
  • Fluency in both English and German (min. B2 level).
Nice to have
  • Experience with ERP/procurement systems (e.g., SAP S/4
