Operations Manager, Projekt Manager, Generaldirektor
Amazon is seeking a highly experienced Project Manager to support the continued expansion of our European fulfillment network. Successful candidates will be comfortable leading large complex projects, guiding a team of contracted support personnel and coordinating internal and external resources to launch new, highly complex fulfillment centers with the goals of achieving timelines, staying within budget, and driving standardization and consistency across our network.
Position based in Germany with 50% travel to domestic and other EMEA locations.
Key Job Responsibilities- Active participant in vendor and Amazon safety policies.
- Detailed coordination of multiple material flow and installation schedules of interdependent vendors.
- Responsible for managing overall project budget and approving all purchase orders and invoices.
- Contribute to developing comprehensive budgets during project conception.
- Plan, direct, supervise and control the execution of all business, technical, fiscal and administrative functions of the assigned program, project or sub-task.
- Comfortable in different roles, sometimes supporting, sometimes leading.
- Take accountability while providing status updates, asking for help and immediately escalating issues and problems as necessary.
- Act as the Company representative with vendors and suppliers during project execution.
- Mobilize company resources through effective liaison with support departments to create project teams capable of delivering quality work.
- Monitor and report on the progress of all project activity, including significant milestones and any conditions that could affect cost or schedule.
- Responsible for overall project schedule that enables teams to achieve success based on milestones and Go‑Live dates.
- Experience in a distribution environment and knowledgeable about material handling equipment such as pallet racking, conveyor, and fork trucks.
- Possess a broad technical background and the ability to “roll up sleeves” and jump in if needed, while managing responsibilities.
- Contribute to project planning from concept to completion.
You will plan and execute the business case that delivers operational fulfillment centers. Your day may include engaging all levels of the organization to agree on strategy, attending the site and owning its development from greenfield to fully functioning FC, planning and managing resources to execute activities detailed in an end‑to‑end schedule, making decisions on behalf of the business, coordinating stakeholders internally and externally, and celebrating the successful launch of the facility.

The EU Startup team is comprised of a talented group of project and program managers who drive coordination of all activities required to safely build highly complex FCs to network standards across the EU market. The team values work‑life balance and dedicates itself to developing and supporting new team members, enabling PMs to execute challenging timelines and frugal budgets for new build, expansion, and retrofit projects derived from capacity and inventory needs.
BasicQualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in (Industrial) Engineering, Operations, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience leading and interacting with cross‑functional teams.
- Experience developing and managing large project budgets.
- Experience in project management and implementation with proven ability to design workable solutions and drive projects to successful implementation.
- Advanced proficiency in verbal and written English.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products:
Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and MS Project. - Basic working experience with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Solid Works, or other).
- Ability to effectively manage, influence, negotiate, and communicate with external business partners and internal teams to meet organizational capacity needs.
- Extensive experience in project management and implementation with proven ability to design workable solutions and drive projects to successful completion.
- Work independently in a fast‑paced and rapidly changing environment.
- Experience in launching new logistics centers, factories or large facilities (including equipment deployment and management of all related processes).
- Certified Project Management qualification (PMP, Prince2, or other).
- Advanced CAD skills.
- Experience in Automation and Robotics industry and/or academic background in related field.
- Languages such as German, French, Polish, Arabic, Portuguese, Turkish, Afrikaans, and Zulu are considered preferred qualifications.
