THE ORGANISATIONA specialist government affairs and PR consultancy working exclusively within the emerging defence technology sector. Founded in 2024, the team operates as the outsourced affairs function for a small number of high-growth defence tech clients — covering government relations, public affairs, and media strategy. The business is expanding into Germany and is looking for a senior-level independent to help establish and grow that presence.
THEOPPORTUNITY
This is a founding role for the German market. You will be the on-the-ground lead for government and public affairs activity across Berlin and Munich, working closely with the agency's leadership team on strategy. The initial scope centres on one established client — a fast-growing, well-funded European defence tech company building out a German manufacturing presence — with additional client work anticipated as the office develops.
WHATYOU WILL BE DOING
- Managing government relations activity with federal and Bavarian government stakeholders
- Building and maintaining relationships with key political and institutional contacts in Berlin and Munich
- Supporting media and communications activity for defence tech clients entering the German market
- Working with the agency leadership to shape strategy, while also being hands-on with delivery
- Attending stakeholder events and representing clients in market
- Government affairs, public affairs, or political advisory experience, gained in Germany or with a strong focus on the German market
- An understanding of the German defence and security landscape — sector experience welcome, though a geopolitical consultancy background is equally relevant
- Strong political instincts and stakeholder management skills across both federal and Länder level
- Comfortable operating as an independent — managing your own time, building client relationships, and getting things done without significant internal support
- Fluency in German and English
- Willing to travel regularl between Berlin and Munich
Open — mid to senior level considered. Attitude, drive, and a willingness to do the full range of work matter more than title. The right person will relish building something from the ground up.
POTENTIAL TO GROWAs the client base expands, there is a genuine path for this role to become a full-time, permanent position heading up the German office. This is an early-stage opportunity with real upside for the right person.
