Stellenbeschreibung
Stellenbezeichnung: Staff Software Engineer, Product Engineering, EU

About The Role

Our engineering culture values ownership and agency. As a Product Engineer you will take end‑to‑end responsibility for a significant product area, from research and specification through design and implementation. You will collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers while driving high quality, user‑centric solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Design and build automated interview scheduling that calculates feasible times, presents options to candidates, and integrates with our responsive web app.
  • Develop a generic declarative filter architecture that allows users to construct complex filters for any record, compile them to SQL, and expose the UI across the platform.
  • Spec, design, and implement a feature for fully online signing of offers, coordinating with customers to capture requirements, building prototypes, and integrating the final implementation into additional features.
  • Research competitors, write product specifications, create wireframes, and steer the product vision across the team.
  • Build new components, services, and infrastructure to support product growth, ensuring consistency across the codebase.
  • Frequent pair‑programming, code reviews, and knowledge sharing to maintain high standards across the engineering organization.
What We’re Building

We focus on building intuitive, intelligent Talent Acquisition software that eliminates tedious manual tasks and speeds up hiring cycles. Key features include smart scheduling, advanced filtering, and fully online offer signing.

Qualifications
  • Comfortable with all layers of the stack—frontend, backend, and infrastructure.
  • Experience delivering on product‑technical ambiguity and building powerful abstractions.
  • Balance speed and quality; fast, reliable delivery with thoughtful design.
  • Strong collaborator and communicator; articulate decisions to stakeholders and peers.
  • Proactive in creating leverage—automating or abstracting tedious tasks, setting up lint rules, and building internal tooling.
  • Self‑directed: minimal process, high ownership, and the ability to solve complex problems within minimal oversight.
Ideal Candidate – You Shouldn’t Apply
  • Requires stringent project management processes like sprint planning or formal task queues.
  • Prefers narrowly scoped, “simple CRUD” projects with no editorial or product strategy.
  • Relies heavily on detailed upfront planning and struggles with ambiguous, large‑scale initiatives.
  • Has not led projects or taken ownership beyond task execution.
  • Seeks extensive mentorship or coaching from senior roles that currently focus primarily on managing or reviewing architecture.
Engineering Culture

We keep process minimal, empower engineers to own decisions normally made by product or design, and prioritize deliberate communication and collaboration.

Ownership & Process

Engineering teams run their projects; product managers handle strategy and research, handing over briefs to engineers. Engineers are expected to iterate on specifications, build prototypes, and deliver fully integrated features.

Collaboration & Communication

Clear, concise dialogue is vital. Engineers present updates, vet decisions with stakeholders, and ensure transparency. Meetings are limited to less than two hours per week.

Increase Leverage, Not Team Size
  • Robust developer tooling: CI/CD that deploys 15 times per day with a native debugger.
  • Reusable component library—analytics, policy engine, workflow engine, design system—that propagates improvements across the product.
Interview Process

Our process focuses on collaboration, product thinking, and technical design, without leverage‑based coding challenges.

  • Introduction call with Hiring Manager (15–30 min).
  • Technical screen with pair programming in the production codebase (1 h).
  • Three non‑coding interviews covering product thinking, technical design, and infrastructure (≈3 h, may span multiple days).

An optional 30‑minute recruiter screen may precede the technical screen depending on availability.

Your First Three Months

Initial onboarding involves setting up your environment in one script, making a small product change immediately, and gradually tackling larger, ambiguous features. Your manager will conduct…
