why this role matters
coera's guardrails run where robots run. That means a real-time operating system we can certify. QNX OS for Safety and QNX Hypervisor for Safety are the industry anchors for safety-certified real-time on autonomous vehicles, robotic agents, and medical devices. You will own coera's runtime story end-to-end, from kernel-level integration to partitioned workloads on a single SoC, through to certified release.
what you will own- Own coera's runtime on RTOS for Safety, end-to-end.
- Architect mixed-criticality partitioning using i.e. QNX Hypervisor for Safety, so workloads run in parallel on one SoC without compromising the safety guarantee.
- Bring up and maintain board support packages on coera's target SoCs.
- Design the real-time-critical paths: scheduling, IPC, deterministic memory management, latency budgets.
Must have
- Expert C and modern C++ (C++14+) with MISRA C / MISRA C++ / AUTOSAR C++14 discipline.
- Deep working knowledge of QNX OS for Safety and QNX Hypervisor for Safety: microkernel message-passing, resource managers, adaptive partitioning, POSIX conformance.
- BSP or device-driver experience on at least one automotive or robotics-grade SoC family such as ARMv8-A / ARMv9-A fluency at register, MMU, and IPC level.
- Functional safety literacy anchored in IEC 61508 and EU Machinery Regulation 2023/1230.
- V-model or Automotive SPICE or IEC 61508 Part 3 process fluency.
- Prior product taken through SIL2 or ASIL-B or higher to assessor sign-off, with your name on the safety case.
- Hypervisor partitioning and mixed-criticality shipping (QNX Hypervisor for Safety, Green Hills INTEGRITY Multivisor, Lynx LYNXOS-178, PikeOS).
- Safety analysis fluency: FMEA, FMEDA, DFA, FTA, HAZOP, STPA.
- QNX-adjacent open-source contributions, or a track record at Black Berry QNX.
- IEC 62443 (industrial cybersecurity) and ISO/SAE 21434 (automotive cyber) literacy. Security as a first-class concern on the runtime.
- Experience porting a codebase from general-purpose Linux to an RTOS.
- German or Farsi in addition to English.
