An early-stage, well-backed robotics safety business in Berlin. They build certifiable, hardware-agnostic safety systems that let autonomous machines operate around people — retrofittable onto existing platforms rather than locked to one vendor's controller. Small, senior team, already deploying with recognised robotics partners.
The role
You own the real-time runtime end to end kernel-level integration through to certified release. Concretely:
- Own the runtime on QNX OS for Safety
- Architect mixed-criticality partitioning (QNX Hypervisor for Safety or similar) so workloads share a single SoC without breaking the safety guarantee
- Bring up and maintain BSPs on the target So Cs
- Design the real-time-critical paths: scheduling, IPC, deterministic memory management, latency budgets
What you'll need
- Expert C and modern C++ (C++14+), with MISRA C / MISRA C++ / AUTOSAR C++14 discipline
- Deep hands-on QNX OS for Safety and QNX Hypervisor for Safety — microkernel message passing, resource managers, adaptive partitioning, POSIX conformance
- BSP or device-driver work on an automotive- or robotics-grade SoC family; ARMv8-A / ARMv9-A fluency at register, MMU and IPC level
- Functional safety grounding in IEC 61508 and EU Machinery Regulation 2023/1230
- V-model, Automotive SPICE or IEC 61508 Part 3 process experience
What's on offer
A core-team seat with genuine ownership of the runtime architecture, direct line to live customer deployments, and equity through the company's incentive plan. Visa sponsorship and relocation within Europe are supported.
Process: intro call, technical conversation, deep-dive session, offer. Typically two to three weeks start to finish.
