AI agents can scaffold features, write tests, and run flows in minutes, but real impact comes from engineers who know when to trust, challenge, and systemize that output. At Podimo, one of Europe's fastest-growing podcast and audiobook platforms, we're looking for a Senior Android engineer who treats AI as a force multiplier and ships native experiences that millions of listeners depend on.
Thisis the role
You'll join Membership, a cross-functional group spanning Android, iOS, Web, Backend and QA, owning the subscriber lifecycle: auth, paywalls, subscriptions, billing and payments. The Android codebase is modern and native-first (Kotlin + Jetpack Compose) — React Native was removed entirely in August 2026, so you'll be building features, with some of the last migration cleanup still up for grabs.
You'll get to experiment with AI tooling, work with multiple agents at once, help shape how Android features are built, and care about quality from spec to ship.
Your Main Responsibilities- Build and improve features in the Membership domain: auth (login, refresh tokens, account), paywalls & offers, subscriptions & plans, billing and payments (Google Play Billing), plus adjacent work in sharing and notifications
- Use AI coding agents (Claude Code, Codex, similar) as a primary tool, not just a chat assistant. Automate the repetitive work and point that leverage at outcomes that move the product — not raw output volume
- Participate in product and design discussions with product managers, designers, other engineers, and UX researchers
- Write unit tests, gate features behind toggles, and ship safely with A/B tests
- Contribute to Android tooling and to how Podimo adopts agentic workflows across the organization
- Review and verify AI-generated code as a first-class part of the job — read diffs critically, catch the subtle bugs agents introduce, and decide what's actually safe to ship.
We care more about how you think and grow than how many years you've worked.
You dream big, move fast, and communicate clearly, but depth counts as much as speed: we want both product-minded builders and engineers with real systems depth, and treat AI as leverage, not a novelty.
Qualities That Matter The Most- You learn fast, apply immediately, and keep adapting as the tools and workflows change
- You communicate like an owner
- You drive things to completion
- You're genuinely curious about AI and how to wield it
- You take proactive ownership
- You think you walk further with a team than alone, and you bring a positive attitude
- You have taste for quality and judgment about where it matters — you can tell a defect that genuinely hurts the product from one that's merely 'not how I'd have done it,' and you spend your energy on the first
- You keep your Android and Computer Science fundamentals sharp instead of outsourcing your understanding to the model
- Solid Android (Kotlin) experience. You understand the Android lifecycle:
Activities, Fragments, Services - Comfort building UI in Jetpack Compose (or strong evidence you can pick it up fast)
- You've shipped or contributed to real Android features. Side projects count if they're real
- You've used AI coding tools (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, similar) to build, test, or automate something. Expect to walk us through something real you've built with AI.
- You understand the value of unit tests, feature toggles, and A/B testing
- Strong English for code, comments, and communication
- A strong passion for mobile and Android in particular
- Real systems depth on at least one axis — concurrency, performance, memory, app architecture, or debugging gnarly production issues. When an agent hands you 500 lines, you can tell what's load-bearing and what's quietly wrong.
- GraphQL experience
