Fem Tech Conf  is supporting one of our clients in the AI startup industry with the search for experienced Software Engineers to join its growing engineering team in Berlin.

The company is building AI-powered technology designed to solve complex real-world problems and is expanding its core product and engineering function as it enters its next stage of growth.

This is a hybrid position based in Berlin
, offering a salary range of €85,000 to €125,000
, depending on experience and technical background.

We are looking for experienced Software Engineers who want to work at the intersection of software engineering, artificial intelligence and product development.

You will join a highly technical team building and scaling AI-powered products, infrastructure and platforms, with the opportunity to influence architecture, engineering standards and product direction as the company grows.

The role is particularly suited to engineers who enjoy working in fast-moving environments where they can take ownership of meaningful technical problems rather than working within a narrowly defined engineering function.

Depending on your experience, your work may span backend engineering, distributed systems, AI infrastructure, APIs, data pipelines, product development and cloud architecture.

As a Software Engineer, you will work closely with the company's engineering, AI and product teams to design, develop and scale its core technology platform.

You will be responsible for building reliable production systems while helping the company rapidly experiment with and deploy new AI capabilities.

• Design, build and maintain scalable production software and AI-powered applications
• Develop backend services, APIs and distributed systems
• Work closely with AI and machine learning engineers to integrate models into production products
• Build infrastructure supporting AI workloads, data pipelines and model-driven applications
• Develop new product features from initial concept through to production
• Improve platform reliability, scalability, performance and observability
• Contribute to architectural and technical decisions
• Write maintainable, well-tested and production-ready code
• Participate in code reviews and help establish strong engineering practices
• Identify technical bottlenecks and improve existing systems
• Work collaboratively with product, engineering and leadership teams
• Evaluate emerging AI technologies and determine how they can be incorporated into the platform
• Help shape the engineering culture as the company and team continue to scale

Requirements will depend somewhat on your engineering specialisation, but strong candidates will typically bring several of the following:

• Strong professional experience in software engineering
• Experience building and maintaining production-grade applications or platforms
• Excellent understanding of software engineering fundamentals
• Experience designing APIs, backend services or distributed systems
• Strong experience with modern programming languages and development frameworks
• Experience working with databases, cloud platforms and modern infrastructure
• Understanding of system architecture, scalability and performance
• Experience working in agile or fast-moving product environments
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with other engineers
• Comfortable taking ownership of technical projects from idea through to production
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Experience working with AI, machine learning infrastructure, LLM applications, agentic systems, data platforms or AI-enabled products would be particularly valuable.
