You will join our team supporting EUMETSAT Mission Planning activities across both operational and future satellite missions. The role combines software engineering, system integration, verification and validation, and operational support activities within a mission-critical environment. You will contribute to the development, maintenance, testing, and evolution of Mission Planning Software and associated tools, working closely with engineering, operations, and industry partners. This position offers the opportunity to support cutting-edge Earth observation missions while contributing to the continuous improvement and modernization of Mission Planning capabilities.
WhatYou Will Focus On
- Support the development, maintenance, and evolution of Mission Planning Systems and associated software tools.
- Contribute to software engineering activities across the full lifecycle, including requirements, design, implementation, integration, verification, validation, and acceptance.
- Perform testing, verification, and validation of software deliveries, including preparation of test data, test procedures, execution of test campaigns, and analysis of results.
- Support soft ware deployment, configuration, maintenance, and operational readiness activities.
- Contribute to the setup and maintenance of automated software development environments, including CI/CD pipelines, containerized solutions, and testing infrastructures.
- Develop and maintain auxiliary applications and tools supporting mission planning and operational activities.
- Collaborate with operations, engineering teams, and external suppliers to gather requirements, investigate anomalies, and support software releases.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, knowledge base material, and engineering reports.
- Evaluate new technologies and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and prototype developments.
- Essential University degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience in software development and maintenance using object-oriented methodologies.
- Knowledge of the software engineering lifecycle, including requirements, design, implementation, integration, testing, and verification.
- Experience with Linux-based environments and modern software development practices.
- Familiarity with configuration management, version control systems, and CI/CD environments.
- Experience in software verification, validation, testing, and acceptance activities.
- Programming skills in one or more languages such as Python, Java, C++, or JavaScript.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Very good command of English, both written and spoken.
- Desirable Experience with Mission Planning Systems or satellite ground segment software.
- Knowledge of Dev Ops methodologies, container technologies, and automated deployment solutions.
- Experience working in operational or mission-critical environments.
- Familiarity with requirements management tools such as DOORS.
- Knowledge of ECSS, CCSDS, or similar space industry standards.
- Previous experience within the European space sector, particularly with EUMETSAT, ESA, or related programmes.
- Furthermore Ability to work in an international and multidisciplinary environment.
- Proactive and solution-oriented mindset.
- Willingness to support operational systems and continuous service improvement activities.
