The University of Greifswald’s Faculty of Theology invites applications for the position of
Professor of Systematic Theology (W3)
to be appointed by 1 October 2027.
OverviewWe are looking for a recognised scholar who is able to represent the full scope of teaching and research in the field of systematic theology. Candidates should have a specialisation in either dogmatics, ethics, or the philosophy of religion.
Responsibilities- Teaching in the degree courses provided at the Faculty of Theology (Magister Theologiae, Church Examination, Master of Theological Studies, teacher education).
- Representing the full scope of teaching and research in systematic theology.
- Excellence in research and documented international collaboration activities.
- Teaching experience and an interdisciplinary profile in theology.
- Willingness to take on roles in academic self-government and experience of such responsibilities.
- Experience in the acquisition of external research funding.
- A university degree, teaching aptitude and academic excellence (e.g., outstanding doctoral degree, junior professorship, habilitation, or equivalent).
- Consent of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany (membership of the Evangelical Lutheran Church or affiliated church is a prerequisite).
- Eligible for civil servant status with unlimited tenure (Beamtenverhältnis auf Lebenszeit) or limited tenure; permanent status only for those under 50 at entry.
