Tenure-track professorship at pay grade W1 with advancement to a tenured W3 post. The postholder will represent the subject in research and teaching. The position involves teaching courses in the faculty's Bachelor's programmes – some of which are delivered in English – as well as in its English-taught Master's programmes. In particular, a strong commitment to teaching is expected in the
B.Sc. Artificial Intelligence and M.Sc. Artificial Intelligence Engineering programmes, which are jointly offered by the Mathematics and Computer Science departments. An aptitude for university-level teaching and the ability to lead courses independently are key selection criteria. Regarding research, high-quality publications, integration into an international research environment and experience in securing national or international external funding are expected. Links to other research topics within the faculty and a willingness to engage in interdisciplinary collaboration within the faculty and with industrial partners are desirable.

The successful candidate will be educated to doctoral level and have demonstrated both pedagogical aptitude and academic excellence, whereby the latter is generally established on the basis of the quality of his or her doctoral research. No more than four years should have elapsed between the doctorate and the end of the application period. This period is extended by caregiving periods (see Art.
63(1) BayHIG).
Tenure-track professors are initially appointed as civil servants on a fixed-term basis for a period of three years. Subject to a positive evaluation, the appointment is extended to a total duration of six years. Following a favourable final evaluation, the fixed-term tenure-track professorship is converted into a tenured W3 professorship.
