W2-Professorship of Designing Open Space in the Context of Climate Change

• Teach at the Detmold School of Design in the bachelor-s and master-s programs in Landscape Architecture, the international master-s program in Sustainable Landscape Design and Development, and the master-s program in Urban Development NRW.
• Teach in the Faculty of Construction and Environment in the bachelor-s program in Landscaping and Landscape Management.
• Teach landscape architecture design with a focus on current and future strategies for climate-adapted open-space planning.
• Combine fundamental design theory with theory-based methods and tools, as well as field trips, in our project-oriented degree programs.
• Test and further develop new teaching formats such as living labs, design-build, and hands-on projects.
• Be on campus and present for your students; up to 25 % of your teaching can be provided as digital teaching, if required, to enable cross-location lectures.
• Conduct courses in German as well as in English.
• Promote interdisciplinary study formats, e.g., through practical student projects.
• Conduct research in the field of landscape architecture with the goal of helping to develop design-oriented solutions for adapting cities and landscapes to climate change.
• Play an active role in shaping the development of the Blue Green Lab -research and transfer institute at the intersection with the Faculty of Constrution and Environment.
• Contribute to the ongoing discourse on current topics in landscape architecture within the professional community.
• Foster collaborations with project partners, initiate knowledge transfer projects, and actively participate in securing external funding.
• Have strong interest in innovative communication formats which encourage the dialog between science and society.
• Shape the sustainable future of the Landscape Architecture department and its degree programs at the Detmold School of Design.
• Contribute to the master-s program in Sustainable Landscape Design and Development and help advance the department-s internationalization efforts.
• Participate in the university-s and department internal committee work in a collegial manner and participate actively in expanding cooperation relationships with domestic and foreign universities.

• Ability to cover the section of Designing Open Space in the Context of Climate Change in teaching and research with the required breadth and depth.
• Ability to teach in German and English.
• Fulfil requirements of § 36 Hochschulgesetz NRW.
• Completed university degree in landscape architecture or a comparable field of study.
• Successfully completed doctorate degree, achievements equivalent to a doctorate or a special aptitude for artistic work and additional artistic achievements relevant to professional experience.
• At least five years of professional experience in landscape architecture projects, at least three of which gained outside the university sector.
• Proven design experience and the ability to innovatively represent the field of landscape architecture - focus on climate-adapted outdoor spaces - both within and outside the university.
