AH-64 Aircraft Mechanic AM-2 (FAA A&P or FCC)
Job SummaryPerform maintenance and inspections on AH-64 Tactical Helicopter systems in accordance with FAA standards and military specifications.
Responsibilities- Perform the full range of military tactical aircraft maintenance with primary expertise as an AH-64 mechanic.
- Execute repair functions including assembly and modification on a variety of Army and other DoD cross‑service aircraft, their major assemblies, sub‑assemblies, components, and related systems.
- Install, connect, and adjust complete systems (fuel, heat, lubrication, hydraulic, engine, transmission) and align fuselage parts, tail rotor assemblies, and flight control systems.
- Incorporate authorized modifications and changes to the aircraft.
- Conduct operational checks of hydraulic and fuel systems using external power sources and powered ground equipment.
- Inspect and troubleshoot to determine causes of malfunctions, disassemble to point of trouble, adjust, repair, realign or replace defective components or assemblies.
- Use hand tools, measuring devices, gauges, torque wrenches, scales, and diagnostic equipment specific to aircraft models.
- Interpret technical data, prepare forms and records related to aircraft maintenance, and perform additional duties as required.
- Valid FAA A&P certificate or FCC License with Elements 1 and 3.
- Minimum 5 years recent applicable aircraft maintenance experience within the last 5 years.
- Minimum 2 years aviation maintenance experience and 2 years on AH‑64 MDS (or 3 years aviation maintenance, 3 years rotary‑wing experience, and 2 years on AH‑64 MDS if lacking FAA A&P).
- High School Graduate or equivalent.
- US citizenship required to obtain NAC‑I (T‑1) Public Trust clearance and for base access in Germany; must possess a valid US passport.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government security clearance (NAC‑I T‑1 Public Trust); interim NACI approval required for deployment.
- Qualified for German TESA approval (5 years total aviation maintenance experience).
- Willingness and ability to travel and deploy worldwide, including potential combat areas.
- Excellent communication skills, adaptability, and troubleshooting ability.
- Working knowledge of electrical, electronic, mechanical, and associated systems principles.
- Knowledge of Quality Control, Production, and Supply procedures.
- Proficiency in reading, applying, and interpreting technical data.
- Ability to determine when repair or replacement of components or assemblies is required.
- Ability to climb, stand, stoop, bend, stretch, and crouch for extended periods.
- Frequent lifting of parts and equipment up to 20lb; occasional lifting up to 50lb.
- Immediate deployability to potential combat areas worldwide.
