Offer Description
The Sauer lab at the Center for Integrative Physiology and Molecular Medicine (CIPMM) at Saarland University has an opening for a highly motivated PhD candidate to explore representational drift in cortical circuits.
Who we are:
Our group aims to understand representational drift and inter-areal communication in the brain. We use a combination of in vivo calcium imaging and Neuropixels recordings as well as computational modelling techniques. The department is embedded in the vibrant neuroscience community at the CIPMM and offers a highly interdisciplinary research environment.
Your role:
- perform cutting edge research with advanced techniques, including high-density extracellular recordings with Neuropixels or calcium imaging
- analyse complex datasets to understand how communication between brain areas is shaped by representational drift
- MSc (or equivalent) in Neuroscience or related fields
- Fluency in English
- Prior experience with in vivo calcium imaging (1 or 2-photon) or extracellular spike recording (e.g., Neuropixels) is beneficial
- Experience in working with mouse models
- Advanced programming skills in Python are beneficial
- Strong motivation and ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a member of interdisciplinary teams
- A certificate to work with animals in the European Union (e.g. FELASA) is beneficial
The position is initially for 3 years with the possibility to prolong. The salary scheme follows the German TV-L 13 (100%).
Please send your application including a CV, a brief description of your previous research experience and motivation, and contact details of at least two references in a single pdf file to .
